Food

Food is something that literally everyone knows about, pays attention to, and eats! Food has always been a very large part of life, as we need food to live. over the past few years, food has gotten more and more attention in society, a real main focus in pop culture as it seems people are basically competing as to who has the better tasting food, the better looking food, the more expensive food and so on. Especially lately, food has become a main focus on blogs, social media, and in life. People are obsessing over food. It went from being a necessity of life, to the new fad on who can get more likes on their Instagram post of their cheeseburger. With that being said, it’s very interesting to me, as I love food. But who doesn’t? Food is so easily accessible, and like I said before it is a necessity to life, therefore people rationalize spending money on it as it is something their body needs, and craves.
People make social connections through food, such as people eating and practicing vegetarian and vegan diets. As well as paleo, gluten free, and so many other types of diet. Food is something that gets people paid; it provides jobs, not only for people cooking food, but for people developing new recipes, people involved in eating contests, and so many other ways. Competitions like bake-offs, grille-offs, to see who can make the best rack of ribs, who can bake the perfect cake, visually as well as taste. There are so many different factors as to why food plays a huge role in pop culture, and in my opinion, one of my favorites. You can make pizza a million different ways!

Radio

Radio is something that most if not all of us have listened to, if not participated in at some point in our lives. Since 1920 when the first radio news program was broadcast it has grown in to something more than just talk shows to keep people up to date on news. It has grown to include music stations, talk shows, news, sporting events and more. Radio has even become more interactive in the last decade, with many radio stations featuring viewers who call in and get to give their opinions on that days topic, chances to win prizes, theres even a radio station that will call a person you went on a date with if they stopped responding to you to see what went wrong. With all this radio has become much more personalized that it previously was, I can’t imagine why people are willing to spill intimate details of their love life to an unknown amount of people over the radio but it surely keeps things interesting. I think in this way radio has changed since its inception to something more than just something people listen to. They can now feel connected to what they’re listening to because of the ability to call in, make points or argue opinions that were presented on the show. To talk about sports games, political ongoings, win prizes to sporting events or free dinners. Radio is something more now that just words heard over a station, it’s relatable and personal as well as exciting to listen to. Image result for radio second date update

Hockey

Hockey is a sport played on ice where the intention is to score a goal using a stick and puck. This sport has a different meaning to different people.

For someone in an office position in the sport, such as general manager, they may see the players as numbers, per say. They are paying each player and decide if the given player is playing well enough and deserves for the team to be paying them. If they don’t like the game play they see, they trade people. These business men and women may have a less sentimental approach to the sport.

For fans, it is a connection to a city and a passion for the sport. The fans support their chosen team and celebrate goals, and mourn losses. They are the ones that get chills when their favorite player scores a game winning goal and that mope for days when their team gets eliminated from the playoffs.

Players have a different outlook than the fans. They have more on the line every game. For them, they feel responsibility for every minute spent on the ice. Each win is a personal victory, and each loss is, well, partially their fault. But players understand it is a team effort and move on from the losses and work up to the ultimate victory, in the NHL, The Stanley Cup. For an NHL player, having their name engraved into the Stanley Cup means they accomplished what they have worked towards their entire lives.
