The Celebrity Relationships of Political Pop Culture

The Celebrity Relationships of Political Pop Culture

president pop characters feat (1)

We all have seen various celebrities on TV and Movies voice their opinions on current politics. The overwhelming craze is not a new one to be sure. With celebrities running for office and countless late night TV shows on both sides of the isle, there is a vast collection of humorous or even offensive material to suit anyone's taste.

The craziness of all of this is the notion that we "the average joes" of the United States really care what these elites are saying. In my opinion, most of these celebrities don't live in everyday America. They don't have the struggles that you and I do. So, this makes their point mute in my eyes.

All the award shows, Grammy's, Golden Globes, etc. Tend to take a swipe at anyone not agreeing with them. In turn, this makes for an abundance of Facebook, Twitter, and others comments towards the celebrities. All in all I believe that the celebrities should just keep to acting, singing, or whatever talents they have. The skills that made them famous, will keep them that way. Trying to force an opinion on something that has no value to the average citizen will destroy a career. Allot of Republican Actors/Singers etc. stay silent in fear of losing work. and or choose to do so.

A quote from Kaity Marquis article, Politics and Pop Culture: The Celebrity Relationship of the 21st Century

" Media, popular culture, and politics will continue to evolve as society and technology change. Changes will always bring growing pains and more reasons to complain, but they also bring an opportunity for relationships between such groups to improve. The memes and sketches that entertain the masses do no real harm so long as consumers maintain awareness of the dramatization of real issues and the purpose of the media often being solely entertainment. In fact, comic relief can play a crucial role in alleviating the tensions that are so prevalent in today’s divisive political world."
